I began my collegiate career at Sam Houston State University, as a Music Education Major. I eventually switched to Tech Theatre, declared Stage Management as my emphasis, and got right to work on some of the coolest projects I've had the opportunity to be a part of.
Showcased below are some of my proudest moments that took place over the years of 2016- 2018.
Feburary 2017- Shakespeare's As You Like It. My very first collegiate show to work on; I got to be a part of the scenic build crew. I helped build/paint everything in these photos: the stairs, well, tree, and the stage.
April 2017- Hairspray. I was placed on the run crew for this show, to fulfill my production hours and assignment for the semester. SHSU does a musical every semester, and I was super excited to have this one as my first experience.
Fun Fact: SHSU's president at the time, President Dayna Hoyt specifically requested Hairspray, so she helped out with marketing and publicity to sell out all four of our shows!
Even Funn-er Fact: Todrick Hall was in Houston during our run, and made a special appearance at the Saturday Matinee show!
Spring 2017
THEA 1331: Intro to Lighting Technology. This class ended with a big final project that was required to include 150 different colors, at the minimum. On the first day of class, we were given a list and a deadline, and were told not to procrastinate. I did of course, because I am who I am.
Fall 2017- Silent Sky, by Lauren Gunderson. My first ASM experience! I worked with an incredible team on this beautiful show, and this play will forever remain at the top of my list of favorites.
Fun Fact: I have a quote from this show tattooed on my arm!
Spring 2018- Oklahoma! I had the opportunity to work on this set during the building period, and then I worked in the box office and as an usher to fulfill my front-of-house lab hours. A very fun show to work on, and my last one at SHSU.
